After deciding that I wanted to include a diagram in the rosary pattern, I started searching around for some crochet design software. I quickly realized that a font of crochet symbols was probably the best approach. A few points and clicks on Ravelry led me to a great creation by Adri, “an illustrator and designer by trade and a knitter, crocheter, and pseudo-seamstress by craft.” Stitchin Crochet is a font of crochet symbols and can be used in any application. I am currently “playing” with it in MS Publisher and having too much fun….I feel like a “real” designer!
I started working on the pattern for the Crochet Lace Rosary and Sachet Set this Saturday. I must admit that the process is a bit more involved than I had originally envisioned. It is one thing to design something in your head and to make it. On the other hand, it is another thing entirely different to communicate your design in a straightforward and easy to understand manner to others so that they can make it as well. I hope that I am able to achieve this feat. I realized while writing the pattern that I really should include a diagram for the sake of clarity. Adding that to my things to do list……
Unfortunately, I was not able to finish the pattern yesterday as planned. I got food poisoning….made the stupid decision to “clean out” the refrigerator for dinner on Saturday. I paid for that decision most of Sunday morning and was exhausted by Sunday afternoon. I was actually fast asleep by 9:30 pm last night. That never happens in my world!
Anyway, I am looking forward to finishing the pattern by the end of the week. FYI – You’ll notice that I have added a page for my designs and classes. I’ll keep you posted as these are finalized.
