The Potential of Creating Something Beautiful
The new issue of Crochet! arrived yesterday. It was a nice treat to have in hand since I had nothing on the agenda after the kids’ morning swim meet but reading, crocheting and relaxing….these Saturday, 7:45 am meet times are killing me. Thank goodness swim season is short. Oh! Let me digress a bit more……my son placed 3rd yesterday for backstroke. This was his first time swimming backstroke in an A meet and he placed! I am a proud “mamma grizzly” today!
So, back to the issue….I am totally enamored with the Circle Vest by Kimberly K. McAlindin. I have the perfect wool waiting in the wings too….one of my treasure finds from the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. I was so tempted to get started right away but I am adding it to the queue

Interestingly, I am reading Kate Jacobs’ Friday Night Knitting Club and she captures this “magic” perfectly – that is, the magic we feel when we knit or crochet. Two of my favorite quotes so far:
Every time I cast on, I feel the potential of making something beautiful.
and
but there was something so significant about being able to make a gorgeous item of clothing from almost raw materials. It gave her a feeling of her own power, to make something practical and beautiful just by using her own skill and creativity. It inspired her.
Here’s what I was thinking of using….I imagine that the back is going to look just like an amazing stained-glass window….ooh, I am excited!
