Yarn Swapping and Back on the Bandwagon
Happy Friday! The past few days have been a whirlwind with getting the kids settled back into school and preparing for our hectic routine of dance classes, piano lessons, swim clinics, catechism classes etc. Sadly, for most of this week, my crochet projects have laid idle. I managed to pick up a stitch or two as I breezed by my work station or in the car while my husband fought traffic. But, by in large, it has been a very slow crochet week.
On a bright note, though, I have been participating in my first ever “swap” on Ravelry. It has been great fun and I have gotten to know a bunch of terrific bloggers. The premise of this swap, organized by Eskimimi Knits, is for us to blog one full week about the package we receive as a part of the swap. Each will contain seven, individually wrapped mini-packages. We were all instructed to include yarn, notions, embellishments, patterns, and perhaps, something even handmade. Well, my “swapee” should receive hers any day now and I would imagine that mine will be on the way soon. So, stay tuned for some fun as I share the contents of my box. I am looking forward to it! It’s like Christmas!
Lastly, I have been very open and honest about my burgeoning waistline….and, the fact that I think all of this crochet has something to do with it – my workout schedule is now down to 1-2 days per week because most of my free time is now dedicated to crochet. Well, I have good news and bad news to report. I will start with the bad. I went to the doctor on Tuesday, and I was up 10 pounds! YIKES! I did eat almost everything in sight during vacation, but that was heart breaking. However, the good news is that I have already lost 7 pounds….yes SEVEN pounds.
I have been on a bit of a detox diet with no sodas and no bread. As much as I hate it, it works! I am hoping to get back to my original “low weight” (well, my most recent “low weight”)…..only 8 more pounds to go.
FYI – This Sunday, September 12th, is International Crochet Day! I have a special treat in store for that.
